KIZOMBA

What is Kizomba?

Kizomba is an African (Angola) dance characterized by close partner connection and smooth, grounded movement. It is a dance of connection and a conversation between the dance partners. Kizomba can be successfully danced with only four or five basic moves, and yet mastery lies in the subtlety of movement and of the lead-follow connection.

It is a very low impact dance that can be danced by any body irrespective of shape, size, height or how many left feet you have. It can be danced solo, in open frame and in closed frame. Heels are not required for this dance style, though you are more than welcome to wear your heels.

It is the perfect for people who want to learn some dance moves for the dance floor and also for couples wanting to share connection and dance. You don't need to have a partner to come along and join in the fun!

The beauty of Kizomba is that it can be danced with many styles of Salsa, Zouk and mainstream pop/rock music.

This 4 week intro block is open to beginners, improvers and those more experienced followers who want to learn to lead Kizomba.

There will be more Intermediate/specialised  classes and workshops coming up in early 2023, but you will need to have completed an intro/foundations block join.

Kizomba is becoming more popular on the Sunny Coast with Kizomba music being added to the usual Salsa/Bachata/Zouk rotations. Even if Kizomba isn't your favourite, this is a great way to learn the basics so you can stay on the dance floor at socials.

About Marco

Marco has been dancing and teaching many styles (Kizomba, Bachata, Salsa and Zouk) in Brisbane and Sunshine Coast for many years. Marco has a passion for dancing that is contagious and believes that everyone can dance given the right encouragement and support. Marco has been teaching for almost 30 years and has a warm, welcoming and nurturing manner.

Although Marco dances many styles, Kizomba is one of his many passions, a dance of connection; a conversation that is had on the dance floor between two people. Marco and Samantha can often be found dancing to live music around the Coast and/or Brisbane each weekend. The beauty of Kizomba is that if you can walk, you can dance Kizomba!

TESTIMONIAL

"I had NO experience of Latin Dance and took a leap of faith. I was lucky enough to meet Marco and have him as my teacher! He took someone who is 67 and never danced to be able to glide across the floor and feel fabulous and confident because he is such an amazing leader and teacher!

I LOVE Kizomba - and zouk- in fact I love anything Marco teaches!

Run don't walk to private lessons or his classes - it's so much fun!!"
